Last weekend we watched "Animal Rescue" on TV. There was a section on a dog rescue. The dog was trapped between two rocks. The rescuer had to use air bag to release the dog.Today, we were doing our own version of 'Blow the Man Down'. We used a small ziploc bag and a straw, and we were learning about air. I was telling Don how we could lift or move things easier if we put the ziploc bag under it and blow air into it.
Then I remembered about the dog rescue show and we were off 'rescuing' things around the house. We pretend to be firefighters rescuing a man trapped in an overturn car, using our 'air bag' to lift the car and pull the man out (we used his little toy car and the little ziploc bag, so it's all so tiny and cute). Then there was the toy horse, toy train, everything else.
For those who wants details, here's what you do :
- have your kid blow a plastic cup with a straw (just to see how difficult it is to move the cup)
- then insert a ballon (or plastic bag) under the cup and blow the ballon using the straw
- the cup should easily tip
Note : you may want to tie the straw to the ballon with a rubber band
